The statistics are clear:  43% of women have a sexual concern such as low desire, difficulty with orgasm, and more. And in a world where there are multiple factors impacting libido– stress, nutrition, sleep, past experiences, and more – it can be difficult to separate root cause and symptom. It’s no wonder so many of us are left unclear as to where to begin to unlock an understanding of our own sexual wellness.  Here are some ways you can unlock an understanding of your sexual journey.

1. Educate yourself.Find facts and data around sex.  Take time to educate yourself on where your concern is and what it could be.  One of our favorite resources is Rosy, a holistic sexual wellness app that helps support your desire.

2. Communicate. If you have a partner, transparency is important to any sexual relationship. If you are moving through your sexuality yourself, try new things to better understand what you respond to. Often, a strong connection and being honest about what you need can support your sex drive.

3. Work with your healthcare provider. Communicate freely, and your medical provider can help provide you with potential solutions.

4. Think about sexual wellness as a journey. Sexuality is a constant throughout your life, and the sum of your experiences can impact where you are today.  Know that there are times when you will need to reassess what works for you and what your sexual goals are going forward.

5. Know you’re not alone.  In a world where there are many conversations and resources for men, women can often feel alone.  Talk to your friends and others in your supportive community – and practice normalizing the conversation around sexual desire for women.
