Research shows that art can help to relieve stress and relax your mind. To help spread positivity and inspiration, we collaborated with artists to create artwork reflecting what our motto—shine from the inside out—means to them.

This week, we connect with artist Reyna Noriega.

Tell us a little bit about you.

I became an artist because I feel invigorated when presented with possibilities to immortalize my thoughts and feelings and to spread joy. Since childhood, I have had a heightened awareness that I feel most myself and most at ease while being creative, in creative spaces and around creative people.

My work is inspired by my journey in finding joy in my present moments regardless of circumstance and creating works of art that reflect the communities I am a part of and make them feel uplifted.

What does wellness mean to you?

I practice wellness in my life when I wake up in the morning and choose to start with gratitude, affirmations, water and a run. No matter the night I had previously.

Why were you excited to partner with Rae? What are your favorite Rae products?

I am excited about this collaboration with Rae because we need to have more conversations with each other about how we can love ourselves more, physically, and as a spiritual practice. In a society that sells us images to make us hate ourselves so that they can sell us things, it is really affirming to see these conversations happening more and more.

My favorite Rae product is In the Mood because we can’t leave any aspect of our well-being out of the conversation.

What does ‘shine from the inside out’ mean to you? How did this come through in your artwork?

For me, ‘shine from the inside out’ means taking time with ourselves and nourishing our insides before we seek validation or linear ideals of success. Tapping into our inner light makes space for us to find sustainable happiness and that is what I feel everyone deserves. Shine from the inside out reminds all to nourish what’s inside so that it can reflect outward.

When creating this artwork, I represented the concept in the figure in the artwork, as her hands are up towards the sign in a very liberating pose. It reminded me of certain movements I do during meditation where I can just feel all the angst and negative feelings leave my body as I send gratitude upward and look towards my future. She is “grounded”, as you can see, she is standing on an organic earth-like surface and the light from the sun is shining on her.

We’d love to hear what Shine from the Inside Out means to you—let us know in the comments!
