Research shows that art can help to relieve stress and relax your mind. To help spread positivity and inspiration, we collaborated with artists to create artwork reflecting what our motto—shine from inside—means to them.
This week, we connect with artist Ashley Lukashevsky.
Tell us a little bit about you.
I became an artist because I realized that illustration was the way I could express my feelings and passions, far more than just verbal communication. After not creating art for years during college, I found myself drawn back to what I had always done as a kid. My work is inspired by nature, earth, the beauty of all humans, communities of color, queer folks, our resilience.
What does wellness mean to you?
Wellness is important in my life because I am not well until we are all well. And also, I have to fill my own cup before pouring into others. To be the best person I can be, to fight for justice against systems of white supremacy, heternormativity, patriarchy—I also need to come from a grounded and loved place. I practice wellness in my life when I meditate, I pray at my altar, I show love and kindness to myself and my communities.
Why were you excited to partner with Rae? What are your favorite Rae products?
I am excited about this collaboration with Rae because I’ve been wanting to explore supplements that feature traditional medicines like Ashwagandha and now I got the opportunity to explore that! I love to support people’s mental health journeys and now I get to play a little role with my art.
My favorite Rae product is the DeStress Capsules because I am on a journey with my mental health, and I love to feel more supported with nutrients to keep me grounded and not anxious.
What does ‘shine from inside’ mean to you? How did this come through in your artwork?
For me, ‘shine from inside’ means loving yourself so much that it pours out of your heart to nourish yourself and others. When creating this artwork, I represented the concept in three people intertwined in community and love, each playing their part in supporting one another, each shining from the inside out.
